Been a while

Morning all,

L4D Tonight 20:00 - We have 6 (any more takers?)

Hey chaps,
We had an impromptu L4D sesh last night and it was great fun. Leaving Fish to die was particularly hilarious as Pete tried to save him. Pity EMW had set fire to the wharf, else he might have had a chance.

What would be very cool would be to do an 8 player (versus) evening. We really need 8 people, so dig deep. Ah go on, it's bloody hilarious, you know you want to.

Devehicularisation and drinks Monday the 30th

As of today I won't have a car. Well, until I save up a bit again. I'm intending to pick up something relatively newish and ex-fleet, which should be a welcome change in reliability from my run of 6-9 year old cars.

Also, on a connected matter my brother is back in Blighty for tea and medals, and will be driving me back and staying over monday.

The Light of Other Days

Cast your mind back to the late 90's a glorious time of internet boom and an innocent time when I once bought 36 pints of beer form the student bar for 20 quid and stacked them in a box.

Cryengine 3

Looks like crytech have developed a new engine and this time it's console compatible

looks pretty impressive, the cryengine 2 that powered crysis and crysis warhead was pretty amazing graphically bringing some of that to consoles would be great

Little Adventure game about Tim Schafer hosting the GDC awards

a little humourous lucasgames style adventure game done in flash by Tim Schafer and Double fine about Tim Schafer hosting the GDC awards. Tim Schafer is ex lucasgames back from when they were good was behind full throttle and Grim Fandango possibly sam and max etc who is now working on heavy metal themed Brutal Legend

Steampunk Pirates - I had an idea

The things that stopped me dead with SPP were:

1. No good tools available.
2. UT3 went to the dogs.
3. Can't make characters.

Then it occurred to me:

1. Make it in Source.
2. Make it LEGO.

Now, as for LEGO, it would done the same way as the Star Wars games, where the characters and objects are LEGO but the environments would be normal. There are LEGO brick repositories online.

CI3 - The problem with bidding (Pete's Bug)

Chom Isis uses an ebay-like model for bidding at the auction. I don't think it's perfect but Pete has raised an issue I do not think there is a solution for.

Here's how it works, with aid of an example

A pawn is given a starting value:

Pawn A:
+ Current Bid: 110

Pawn B:
+ Current Bid: 105

The system calculates the next bid that is allowed:

Pawn A:
+ Current Bid: 110

Well done that lad!

That shows a high degree of initiative, and deservingly gets a BBC News page all to himself with a photo of the glorious artifact...
