Steam holiday sale - ends Jan 3rd

Looks like steam are having a big sale for the next few says, with some good deals. I managed to pick up:

Gratuitous space battles
Torchlight
Braid
Lucasarts adventure pack (yeah, probably bad, but £1.74... and includes The Dig)
Action Indie Pack
Star Wars Starfighter

All for a whisker north of £25. Not bad for 13 games really

Let's talk NAS

Until recently, I've been able to store all the crap I wanted to backup on a couple of USB sticks. With the arrival of Felix, the number of precious photos landing on the HDD means that I need an alternative backup. So, I think a NAS is the next step forward. I know there is some expertise here about NASeseseseses, so I thought I'd plunder it.

Homeopaths admit more really is more

Looks like a bunch of homeopathy supporters have got sick of not being taken seriously on the internet, and decided that the best way to gain the respect of the wider community is to spam wikipedia until the service is overloaded.

Bots in TF2

Something that came up at Fishcon, and may well be in place for the next one.

A Venomous Dinosaur?

Oh, oh, oh! This is an exciting one!

Satellite show school of Sharks meters from Australian Swimmers

Unbelievable Satellite Images! Recent images of Bondi Beach show a massive school of unidentified sharks cruising just metres from swimmers.

youtube post leads to movie deal

A bloke Uruguay who put a short film up on youtube ended up getting a movie deal from sam Raimi of evil dead fame

The short shows a attack on a city by walker robots and sort of flying saucers and was apparantly made for about 300 quid.

[yt]Orbo the perpetual motion machine that just won't die

Irish company Steorn are still banging on about their perpetual motion machine Orbo (thought they call it an over unity machine a concept which was invented so quacks could call their perpetual motion machine something else) despite failing to demonstrate the thing for the past 6 years and and a 22 scientist jury declaring there was no evidence of energy production they are still banging on about

The last post (of the year)

2009 has been yet another remarkable year with some step changes. It's been invigorating, though and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. In some vaguely topical/chronological order...
