Latitude, on most mobile devices, is rather cool. It shows you where you and your friends are locally. On most devices, it's a native app and can run in the background. On the iPhone, Apple have demanded that it's a web app, meaning that it must be the primary running application, rather than a background app.

Google Wave is a yet-to-be-released collaborative tool. It's so broad, it's difficult to describe but it's Google's vision to how email should be but it goes so much further than that. Four people editing a document concurrently and you see the edits. Emails that are really somewhere between and email and IM, with branching and joining new people in.

I needed a 'posh' car, a sort of Lexus or Merc level for Icar as the chaps kept stealing them. This is the first pass at the model (there will be a another version). Any thoughts for a name for it?

I was thinking along the lines of Regal but that sounds like a filthy cinema/bingo hall in the north.

So, in summary we have;

1) One system to determine the top position, and another entirely for everyone else
2) A 2-tier team system, where teams are either on a budget, but technically freer to do what they want, or spend shedloads of money, but not allowed to do lots of things to their car.

Tide is a really cool tool for editing/testing and running javascript on a browser. Easy to edit, to run, step and so on. Doesn't quite beat Firebug and the like but it a cool tool when your chips are down.

It would be very much against Games Workshop's current model, and several issues have been raised;

1) Cost - to price the minatures for the original set would be over £100 in todays money (even with plastics)
2) Genestealers have been changed out of sight in the 40K universe, and are now just lackeys to the Tyranids

I know Spore wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I think this new expansion will reinvigorate it for me. :) I hope they improve the management of many colonies because it was annoying having to jet back across the void to cure some sort of disease - even when you've tooled up the planet with all the disease killing stuff.

I loved Spore but the end game was somewhat tiresome. Sounds like they've listened to the community and now they're rectifying it!

Of course, it might just miss the mark like the original game did for many.

Synergy is a bit like a KVM, but works in software over a network connection. Once logged in, you can move your mouse to the edge of the screen of one machine and have it appear on the next, taking keyboard control to it too and even your clipboard contents.

This rocks. They spend about 60 quid, and send a camera nearly into space. And they're all pre-uni science students.

I've been collecting free RPG stuff for ages now. Ever since Rob Barrows epic 'Entalis' disappeared from the net, I've been downloading free RPGs and sticking them in a folder on my computer. Yags, Jags, Fudge, Fate and so on. I also do a lot of egosurfing for Icar, that is putting "Icar rpg" into Google and seeing who is linking to it and what people are saying.

Apparently, Square Enix have a new xbox RPG coming out in a scant 10 days, which I knew nothing about. It looks pretty impressive though - I'll probably have to pick it up, even if I've still got weeks (if not months) left of Lost Odyssey.
