Alternatively, you could go for something less shit than an ipod and go for a Sansa music player. Simple, robust, needs no software installed at all, plays more formats than the ipod at a better quality and is able to work with any of the online music stores.

On the basis that I already have an Ipod its a bit late to go changing. I blame fish for having 32gb of music seems thats what causing all the trouble.

Songbird works a treat. I tried Winamp too but it just crashes. Seems Mozilla are slowly replacing all the software on my machine.
