I've got to give a whole bunch of Air Cadet Media Officers my thoughts and expert skills on web delivery including RSS feeds. My alloted time is 30 minutes.
They are apparently very keen but seem to have a low knowledge level.
So far as RSS, I can see the main points being:
Intro, (what is RSS)
Structure/points to remember/Tags
How to add to a site
How people see your RSS feed (browser/IE/FF and Vista/Win8 RSS viewers)
If time:
Demo of implimentation in a browser/website (Manual coding)
Demo of implimentation in a browser/website (using PHP/MySql - will probably offer these code snippets, is there going to be a take home disk for people?)
So I'm looking for your opinions of the RSS plan, and any thoughts you might have on website delivery for Pod/Vodcasts.

I like the structure. It
I like the structure. It should work a treat. When selling RSS, the thing to make sure they understand that it's a simple way of integrating data across many systems. I would try and demo how a feed is shown in different feed readers (Google etc). You can inbuild an MP3 player into an RSS (html points to a flash player online) to play the podcast on screen.
I would give out a handout that had a URL to a page with the scripts for download.
For Pod/Vod, this is a slightly different problem. You can use RSS for telling people when a new Pod/Vod is ready for download but you'll find many people use iTunes/Songbird/WMP/Winamp/Whatever for downloading their podcasts.
