Fishcon 2011 - Thank yous

A successful con! A few thanks...

To Fish for hosting. Legend.
To Pete for cooking without killing.
To Dwain for yum roast.
For everyone who drove.

My game-of-the-con is Space Marine and L4D2. A Pete said, it's a griefing engine and the kind I like.

Battlefield 2: Project Reality Mod.

Have any of you played this epic mod? I discovered it recently and am addicted.

It is a whole new method of playing FPSs for me. The cooperation and team working leads to whole new level of awesome.

The learning curve is epic. Eve online levels of steep.

[Edit - linked up to the mod - Rob]

Filling up my new Hard-drives

For the first time in quite a while, I have a PC capable of playing games to a decent level. I'm also discovering that in my older years, I have a bit more patience for slower RTS games (no doubt in part to DoW as a gateway game). I did, though, put UT3 on it last nigth, mainly to whack all the setting upto full for the first time ever, which reminded me just what a pretty game it is.

IMPORTANT - Spooncon - Friday Pie

As Pete rightly pointed out, we'll need to book.

Who's in for Friday pie?

Me
Big R
Aggro
Fish
Byrn
Nibbles
Skunty

Delivery of Nether for Evil Inc. Del date unknown.. :(

Notch is enabling the Nether in 1.6!! God knows when that'll be released!

Piston minecart boosers

Little vid of a piston boosted minecart system. I think the official pistons may work differently as this is a player made mod.

Servercraft!

The Amazon experiment was a partial success. We showed that we could run a server on a free micro instance but the lag with two people was getting silly. The server needs 1024MB and the micro instance only had 614MB. With OS and some spare memory, MC couldn't have more than 550MB.

Server Status [Dead]

The servers are both running fine and have been upgraded to the release 0.2.5_02.

I have created a folder share on the laptop with the a world file backup from around 8pm tonight.

Do we need a Minecraft forum?

Just wondering - we might end up with separate threads. Pete's blog post is rather large. Also, I could create a lack-of front page block with the forum posts in for those people who like mc.
