While I was out in Australia & New Zealand with Byrnie and Jen I took a bunch of video using a little DJI Osmo Pocket which has a nice gimbal to stabilize things and it shoots in 4k60 so gives reasonable image quality for something small enough to just slip in a pocket. Since it's gimbaled it can also do some fun panning timelapse shots.

I edited the Australia part of things over the christmas holiday and got round to doing the final bits and pieces the other day added a bit of voice over and so on. You can take a look here, it's something like 50% Timelapse 50% Penguins.

This one passed me by when it was first released... I'd seen the trailers, but it looked fairly static. The game is a great example of where a video trailer doesn't really do it justice. It came to my attention when it won a number of year-of-year awards from various publications, so I picked it up on Switch (good timing, as I'd just completed Rogue:Legacy NG+ and Wild Hearts:Sayonara).

An attempt to reclaim a much-maligned word. A better fit than "resolutions" for these...

1 - Regain 2nd Cat Race License

In theory I should have already started the campaign on this, however as I type this while the 2020 race season has begun, there have been no races organised locally. I haven't raced since June 2018, so as of the 1st December 2019 I lost my 2nd cat race license...so I'll need 40 points to get back up there before the end of November. Ideally I'll get it done way before that.

Mucking about with a cheap chinese CNC

One of the offshoots of the rise of 3d printer tech is the proliferation of cheap "CNC" machines thet use the same control circuitry as a 3d printer but usually swap out the belts for drive screws and guide rails use a cheap spindle instead of the hot end and are usually constructed out of standard 2020 extrusion and a few machined parts.

I've seen these things knocking around but mostly assumed they were trash but their prices have been dropping a lot in recent years and you can pick one up for under 200 bucks.

There's a bunch of roadmap type stuff in the news update too.

In Mid-December there'll be update 27, with custom beer mugs and some other things that need promotion (one day!). There's more stuff in the new year, they're overhaulling perks (which I think are perfectly fine tbh), giving pickaxe skins (I'm a sucker for skins) and then many more mission types before 1.0 (yay!).

I hadn't really heard of it until Friday, when Digital Foundry put up a review stating it was Game of the Year material...and then I watched the first hour or so streamed on the Eurogamer channel.

GTAO: Diamond Casino Heist coming dec 12th

So rockstar have released some info on the upcoming update to GTAO the diamond casino heist so it might be worth seeing if we can get that thing to run without randomly crashing for no obvious reason.

LOoks like unlike the other heists it will have some built in replayability with elements being different each run not sure how that will work in game but a nice touch over the otherwise static heists.

Hopefully it will be like the other newer heists in that the number of players is more flexible although I'm sure it will require a bunch of public free mode bullshit as well.

Now that's what I call Ultrawide! And other statements that can be easily taken out of context

My monitor had been showing some odd image discolouration so I've been considering replacing it and what with the black friday cyber monday and I guess mauve thursday I had a look what was on offer and ended up getting this bad boy

There's a new update for NMS and I must admit it looks like a good one. Perhaps the best news is being able to upgrade my fighter. I love the look of it and it saddens me that (until now) all I could do is just buy a new one. Hurrah!

There is a fuck-ton of quality of life improvements in this update while they work on "something big". Backpack refiner will be particularly welcome - especially early on before you operate mostly from a base on the surface or some mega-base-on-a-ship.

Automation Empire: New factorio/Satisfactory esq factory game out 20th

This has been popping up in various lets plays of people that run these sorts of games and looks pretty interesting. Single player only so Factorio and Satisfactory still have the multiplayer massive factory game locked down (one of these days we're going to get Rob a copy of Factorio so we can run it on a SNG session next time there's a sale on it :D)

This is more of a strategy type view of things you are not in the game world like in Factorio or Satisfactory but it is 3d seems to have fairly extensive build options and things to build up to.
