Shame about the timelapse. I suspect you have some fantastic scenery over there...
I've had the best results setting the exposure/white balance manually in the webcam source settings, otherwise they tend to go screwy in sunlight.

yes our issue was the camera was set for low light and indoors it was also out of focus. It needs a bit of positional work too. This part of the trip was mostly motorway and not much to see so we were treating it as a test run for the more "fun" stretches like down through the centre of yosemite national park. Hopefully we will have it all sorted by then.
