Yep, anything in greater than/less than brackets will be parsed as html, and probably thrwon away ;)

Or you could change the way drupal handles dis-allowed html, by going to site configuration->Input formats
Selecting whichever one is (filtered html most probably, clicking configure), click the configure tab, then select the 'Escape all tags' option instead of 'Strip disallowed tags'
