DMV fucks me over again

So I was supposed to take my driving test practical today the website stated I couldn’t use my car because it had no licence plates. So I sorted a rental car out. When I turned up for the test I was then informed despite what it said on the website I needed special permision to use a rental car in a test from the DMV that required some separate lengthy application.

Not only that I could use my car despite the fact that it explicitly stated that you needed two number plates if I had a waiver that they could do on the spot with the details that are glued to the front window of my car.

By now it was too late to do anything about it and they just sent me away. So they had essentially wasted my time through bad information and cost me the price of a days hire car I didn’t need and I still had no drivers test.

So I was somewhat peeved.

Anyway I dumped the rental and swapped back to my proper car and drove back to work with some loud rock music to calm me down. I then spent about an hour on the phone trying to rebook an appointment. I was dreading when I would be able to get back in the queue as the guy at the DMV had said it would probably be late september. My current temporary licence expires in early september so I was a little concerned that this meant I would have to start over. But as it happened I managed to get a new appointment on monday the 23rd by talking to a helpful lady on the phone.

All of this could have been avoided with proper information on their website and even more so with an system that allows you to just phone up and ask a question but they obfuscate as much as possible cutting off any direct contact.

Anyway fingers crossed I’ll get this sorted next monday but still what happened cost me a lunch break wound me up something chronic. Just further proof that the DMV is crazy.

To cheer myself up I booked tickets to see ZZtop … at another winary. They were down at shoreline in mountain view as well (which is a stadium) but it clashed with PAX.

DMV cocksuckers. The DVLA doesn't look so bad anymore. Even with their all their car registration arsehattery.

Are all gigs at wineries out there?

Yeah I mean in the UK I've never had to go to a DVLA office except maybe for the driving test but even then I didn't have to queue for an hour then get told I'd got something wrong on my paperwork get shrugged at and turned away. No effort to help you or make sure things are in order ahead of time when they can be fixed and save me having to make two trips and thus increase delays for everyone else.

nearly all gigs are at winerys the ones that aren't are for losers.
