The Big Swap-over

I'm in the process of changing my main email account...

from
[email protected]
to
[email protected]

I'm basically tired of the regular downtime that bullet suffers (especially on the webmail side of things, which is what I use throughout the day). I've been speaking to 34sp.com to get my various email forwarders re-pointed (there was a slight problem with itjustyou.com, as when I transferred it to 34sp 4 years ago the registry update was not completed, however thats now done).

By the end of today anything sent to
***@itsjustyou.com
***@peterganderton.com
***@ijy.cc

Will be forwarded to [email protected]. At that point I will be checking the gmail account as my regular account, and bullet-systems will only be checked nightly, when I synchronise Thunderbird with my accounts at home.

Fingers crossed, it should be a smooth-ish transition, as most subscriptions are held under a forwarder, so its just picking out those people with addressbook entries, and getting them updated...

...that means you lot :-)

Sorted. Thanks for the headsup.

I've been using gMail as my main client for a couple of weeks now, and I'm very impressed. Its spam filter is doing superbly (which is extremely handy given that I recieve 300-400 of them a day), and I've fed in a bunch of rules so that all the incoming mail is grouped, and can be sorted in a single click into various categories.

It allowed me to imprt all my contacts in a csv file, which took all of 2 minutes to put together, and I now have it picking up stuff from the old bullet account, so that anyone who I missed in the swapover communications will still get picked up.

It also does some very cool things linking into other google apps. For example, I get a weekly email from Roadrunners giving the training session for the week with Word and Excel attachments, and you get the option to open these in Google Docs. In one email I mentioned a 9am meeting on Wednesdays that I always get in late for, and then I spotted by the side of the email a link asking if I wanted to add that meeting to my calendar...really nice touch!

There is also a little tray tool that lets you know when you have new email, so now I know when new stuff arrives through a simple bleep :-D

I'm glad you've come over to the darkside.

I'm on there now as [email protected], although I now have baron@bullet-systems forwarding to gmail too.
