007 First Light

A few years back when IO Interactive makers of the excellent murder puzzle simulator games from the Hitman series announced they had gotten their hand on the 007 license ... to kill / make video games it seemed like a good match to their skill sets. They've spent the past 30 years perfecting their immersive sim heavy assassination games of stealth and subterfuge a key element of the bond films.

Destiny 2 Done

Bungie announced today they are ceasing development on Destiny 2 and this June's update will be the last content for the game.
The writings been on the wall for a while now with plummeting player numbers (although still better than marathon:D) I've not played since the odd starwars themed update and most of the people who used to cover the game moved to arc raiders or some other live service.

Bit of a shame but I guess given the 768 million dollar impairment and the layoffs gutting the teams there it was not doing well for sony.

Subnautica 2 Electric Boogaloo

I really enjoyed the first two subnautic games. Beyond Zero wasn't quite as good but still had some fun survival base building goodness and extensions to the base game.

So Subnautic 2 has been on my radar (or should that be sonar?) for a while. Of course the whole krafton ceo using AI to attempt to cheat the creators out of the 250mil they promised them when acquiring the studio contingent on them releasing Subnautic 2 into early access before a certain date (Maybe some sales number requirments too I forget) Is a really wacky side story to this games release.

Adventures in Vibe Coding

Ai it's everywhere these days and more and more our corporate overlords are saying it will replace anyone and everyone who does anything creative or technical or in some case legal (which ironically is usually illegal).

More and more pressure to "explore the tools" and "come up with agentic work flows" and "put Instagram style duck face filters on all games"

So this week so I could at least say I'd installed the tools and played with them should that become a mandatory rather than heavily advised requirement.
