2013 was slack, pretty much because I didn't put any goals in place to achieve. I didn't try to do anything except change job and get spending under control, which I did.
Here's the plan for 2014.
In a conversation with Byrnie and Rob about a year ago, I set myself a number of new year resolutions. Some were about getting back into shape, however some were about sorting out the fact that my taste in music stopped evolving in about 2002, and I had pretty much stopped discovering and listnening to new bands. Also, I was in a bit of a rut with reading too...tending to read the same authors.
After almost 6 years of hard slog the end is officially in sight for my undergrad. By (read 'on') the 6th of June my final paper will be handed in and shortly after I shall discover my final grade... I'm pretty much nailed on for a 2:1 at this point, with a 1st still being a realistic possibility (if I maintain my current grades for the rest of this module then I should get it).
I'm on a diet...the first real one I've ever done. I've been on health kicks before now, but this is the first time I've done a proper count-the-calories diet with the express goal of losing weight.
Last night, Big Rob (shame2lose) and I went on a dangerous hunt for naturally spawning horses. Armed with stone tools, saddles, food, torches, him with a sword and me with a bow, we struck out for not-yet-generated distant lands to find horses. We had huge issues with Ping. I watched the server, it wasn't under silly load and I tried a reset or two.
We got up at 6 and then struggled to disable the various alarms festooned about the room. We had the forethought to pack almost everything the night before so we just needed to wash dress throw out junk pack a few things and check out.
We started early, we had the car till 5pm but decided to drop it first so we had the rest of the day. The airport is about a half an hours drive away we drove over filled up at a little petrol station where the owner regaled us with details of the americas cup progress among other things.
We got up fairly late and had coffee got ourselves up. It was a fairly nice day so we looked through our list of things to do and decided to go and visit Larnach Castle New Zealands only castle.
We woke up to a much more blustery day than before really high winds and a somewhat grey day. We had a coffee a cereal bar and then made some plans for the day. It looked like tomorrow was going to be rainy so we decide to do some outdoor things today and hit the museums tomorrow.
We had a leisurely start and got up ready to get some food we also marveled at the view as it was a very nice bright day and out hotel window afforded some spectacular views of the city. After some fortifying coffee we headed out for a walk along the main road in search of some food.
