Death by Hyperbole

OK, this is getting out of hand now. I mean, it was out of hand before, but it just got passed the point where even I can stay quiet about it. It’s like we’ve just passed the event-horizon of some new kind of publicity black hole and are now tumbling helplessly towards a singularity of overstatement where, rather than the laws of physics, it’s our sense of proportion that breaks down.

Catching up with an old friend

On the weekend I spent some time with an old friend. You know how it is when you meet up with people you've not seen for years and the passage of time is very apparent, well that'a the way this was. They'd made some changes to their appearance added some new twists to their look, but their sound samples still suffered from low bit rate compression artefacts.

One in, one out

Kate's paternal Grandma passed away yesterday around lunchtime. A formidable lady, even after 90 years. She died peacefully in her sleep at a nursing home she loved to hate. Everyone's holding up well. Inlaws are on their way back.
