Today AMD launched its sucessor to the Athlon 64 line, named Phenom, at 2.2 and 2.3Ghz.
Phenom is an evolution of the K8 architecture, which itself was an evolution of the K7, the original Athlon. This is not neccesarily a bad thing, if you can evolve a processor to acceptable performance then its definately the better option than a redesign from the ground up.
Assassin's Creed is one of the most hyped games of the year right up there with Halo 3 and Bioshock. I got my copy of the 360 version yesterday. From the team that wrote the wonderful Prince of Persia:Sands of time this new game from Ubisoft Montreal puts you in the role of a assassin called Altaïr in the time of the third crusade.
I've just bought a 16GB iPod Touch. I've been saving, selling off old tech, ummming and ahhhhing about getting an MP3 player for some time. Getting the full deposit back from the landlord put me over the edge.

Something odd is going on. First, at the end of October, nVidia release the 8800 GT. A new midrange card to repace the decidedly lackluster 8600 GTS, made on a smaller process to reduce heat production and make it cheaper to produce.
The odd thing is, its too good.
So there I was last night cheerfully preparing my dinner anticipating a night of large scale death and destruction, bent down to grab some cheese out of the fridge as I went to straighten up my damned back decides that's the moment to "go". Now joyously I can't stand up straight and can barely walk...
It would be fair to say I am quit irritated today.
One of the main things I've been getting used to since moving into Southwood six months ago is the longer commute into the office. Time-wise its not a huge difference from the old place in Tilehurst, however distance wise its a fair chunk more, and due to the vagaries of road layout the other side of the M4, its a bit indirect as well.
So I finally get a new game to play on my PS3, picking have been slim so far Heavenly sword was OK but very short and there has been very little since. So I'm playing Ratchet and Clank which looks amazing really pixar movie in real time at some points, if my TV supported HiDef it would probably look even more amazing.
